Discover the artwork of acclaimed comic, poster, and concept art illustrator Jock, from his work on DC Comics' Batman and Marvel's Wolverine to films such as Children of Men, Man of Steel, and The Dark Knight Rises. Mark Simpson, known by his pen name Jock, is an internationally recognized two-time New York Times best-selling artist and Eisner Award nominee. Over the last two decades, Jock has become one of the most distinguished illustrators in comics, with credits that include titles with Marvel (Savage Wolverine, Daredevil), DC Comics/Vertigo (The Losers, Batman: Black Mirror), and his runaway success, Wytches (co-created with Scott Snyder for Image Comics). His career has grown well beyond the comic book world into creating highly sought after movie posters for Mondo as well as production art for acclaimed films such as Children of Men, The Losers, Dredd, Batman Begins, and most recently Alex Garland's sci-fi masterpiece, Ex Machina. The Art of Jock delves into the prolific artist's catalog, showcasing not only the best of his extensive sketches and published images, but also personal notes from Jock himself that provide insight into the often philosophical inner workings of his creative process. Featuring interviews and quotes from colleagues and long-time collaborators, including Scott Snyder, Alex Garland, and Stephen King, this extensive look into the mind and method of one of the most critically acclaimed illustrators working today is a must-have for fans of comic book and pop culture art, as well as aspiring artists and illustrators.

"It's fabulous. A triumph." -Stephen King "The most terrifying comic you've ever read." -MTV News When the Rooks family moves to the remote town of Litchfield, NH to escape a haunting trauma, they're hopeful about starting over. But something evil is waiting for them in the woods just beyond town. Watching from the trees. Ancient...and hungry. Collects WYTCHES #1-6. More praise for WYTCHES: "Dark and brutal, Wytches are like nothing horror fans have ever seen" -USA Today "In Wytches, the Image Comics series Snyder co-created with the superstar art team of Jock and Matt Hollingsworth, the writer isn't just completely reinventing witches--through the story of the Rook family's dealings with the titular monsters, he's diving deep into very real fears about being a parent, and the ugliness that hides in all of us." -Entertainment Weekly "An awesome and at times terrifying tale." -IGN "A great read.... the art is outstanding and certain panels may give you nightmares." -iO9 "If you read the first 4 pages of WYTCHES, there's no turning back. Scary as fuck and impossible to put down. Bravo." -Joe Hill, Locke & Key "Monumental." -Bloody Disgusting "Snyder has tackled horror before, but Wytches sets out to be an entirely new level of scary. Aside from the fact that the monsters in the book are terrifying (artist Jock has done an amazing job realizing the creatures), Snyder's vision of witchcraft is as much about the deepest fears parents face as it is about spooky monsters in the woods." -Complex Magazine

Jock Clutterbuck is a remarkably accomplished sculptor and printmaker, whose distinctive abstract imagery is equally expressive in either medium. In his 'Foreword', Geoffrey Edwards describes Clutterbuck's unique forms as possessing '… the elegant visual clarity and crisp ornament of an old astrolabe or suchlike scientific instrument'. Author Sasha Grishin explains that the artist is '… unusual in his preoccupation with mysticism in general and with theosophy and … arcane systems of knowledge'. The identifying characteristics of this artist's works stretch throughout his entire oeuvre—dating from his student days at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the 1960s, throughout his more than 25 years teaching at the Victorian College of the Arts, to the years since 2000 that he has been able to dedicate full-time to his art.Clutterbuck's first exhibitions were held at Tate Adams' Crossley Gallery, Melbourne's first dedicated printmaking venue, which from the 1950s to 1980s showed artists such as Fred Williams, George Baldessin and Hertha Kluge-Pott. Today, Jock Clutterbuck exhibits at Australian Galleries, with whom this exquisite monograph, designed by Suzi Ditterich, is co-published.
